Oxfam reaction to Colonna independent review into UNRWA neutrality

By

Responding to the Colonna independent review into UNRWA neutrality, Scott Paul, Oxfam America's Associate Manager of Peace and Security said:

“It is vital that the United States immediately and fully resume its funding to UNRWA. The United States has been UNRWA's largest donor and its swift suspension of funding led many other donors to follow suit. While some funding has been resumed, Congress continues to block funding for UNRWA as its work to reach people across Gaza facing imminent famine, ongoing bombardment, and lack of the most basic services. UNRWA is the backbone of the humanitarian response in Gaza and is vital throughout the region - It is the only humanitarian organization with the ability to respond on the scale desperately and urgently needed.

“The relentless humanitarian nightmare continues in Gaza, with no ceasefire in sight, despite the UN Security Council resolution nearly a month ago.  The U.S. Government must use all of its diplomatic and economic power to press for an immediate and permanent end to the fighting, release of all hostages and full humanitarian access."
