Oxfam’s reaction to the American Energy Innovation Act

By

In reaction to the American Energy Innovation Act announced by the Senate Democrats, Oxfam’s Policy Manager for Climate Change, Heather Coleman, said:

The American Energy Innovation Act is a step in the right direction for a stronger clean energy future. Energy is not only essential in fighting poverty but crucial in combating the climate crisis, given that two thirds of global carbon emissions come from the energy sector.  This act, which is even more ambitious than the current target set by President Obama, will help promote economic growth, build stronger energy infrastructure and create clean energy jobs.

As world leaders, including Pope Francis, gather this week and continue to call for climate action, it’s important for Congress to enact legislation like this act that promotes the US as a climate global leader ahead of the negotiations in Paris.”
